Marcy Mendelson is a fine-art photographer, conservationist and documentary filmmaker.
Currently working in photography and soon to expand to installation pieces, these projects concentrate on place as ephemeral meditation. The Drive-By signifying fleeting fascinations with the remote. Land and Air expressing curiosity for the temporal in atmosphere and isolation. All locations possessing surreal footprints of minimalist human intervention. Above all, seeking isolation, seeking space. The Butterly People stems from a National Geographic commission to document the Samburu People’s Lmuget ritual in Northern Kenya where boys become warriors (Moran). Africa, an ongoing look into her numerous journeys to the continent, its people, wildlife and landscape.
Mendelson’s conservation work has been published in National Geographic, and her latest documentary film focus on the cheetah and human-wildlife-conflict can be viewed at Cheetah-Watch.com
